Fellview Healthcare Limited operates four sites – Beech House (Egremont), Cleator Moor Health Centre (Cleator Moor), Flatt Walks (Whitehaven), and Griffin Close (Frizington).
Our patients can telephone any of our four sites to make an appointment and can be seen at any of our four sites.
Patients can book appointments over the telephone, in person and in some cases online.
We have 18 phone lines across our four sites and usually around 12 receptionists across the sites to answer those calls. We aim to answer telephone calls promptly and our receptionists work hard to deal with each one courteously and professionally.
We offer patients the option to book appointments electronically online. Only routine appointments can be booked online.
Most nursing appointments and many of our GP appointments are available to book in advance. These generally become available 4-6 weeks prior to the appointments date. These are freely available to book by any patients. Bookings can be made on the phone; some of these appointments are also available to book online. Routine appointments are provided so that those with on-going problems can book an appointment in advance which they can then plan around.
On-the day appointments
On-the-day appointments are for patients who cannot wait for a routine pre bookable appointments and these are booked over the telephone only. Our reason for doing this is because we like to speak to the patients to try and ascertain the reason for the call and so that we can direct the patients to the most appropriate person. Face-to-Face on-the-day appointments are available with GP’s and Nurse Practitioners
We have approximately 270 on-the-day appointments available each day across the sites.
The practice has several Nurse Practitioners. The Nurse Practitioners are highly qualified specialist nurses who can diagnose, treat, refer and prescribe. The nurse practitioners work at Beech House, Flatt Walks and Cleator Moor.
The practice has three on-call GP’s who deal with emergency appointments/emergency visits etc. These GP’s deal with any emergency calls that come through but also have telephone appointments booked to assess and deal with any urgent on the day requests. The On-call GP acts to ensure that the practice safely deals with all urgent/emergency care required whatever the demand for appointments faced on the day.
The phone triage may result in the problem being dealt with on the phone or an appointment may be given with the GP or Nurse Practitioner.
Calls about medication may be directed to the Medicine Manager.
If your appointment is with the on-call GP it may be subject to delay if the GP has to attend an emergency home visit.
If you wish to speak to a GP/NP on the phone then you can request a telephone consultation. We will endeavour to let you speak to the GP of your choice if possible.
Booking Appointments Online
In order to book appointments online you must contact your branch surgery to obtain a registration form, with this registration form you can visit www.patient.co.uk and register for online appointment booking.
Our appointments are every 10 minutes.
Sometimes a GP will run late because they are dealing with a complex patient that may require admission or urgent referral into secondary care. These patients may require longer than their allocated appointment time.
Each quarter we carry out a supply and demand survey which shows how many on-the-day appointments we are required to have to meet the needs of our patients and we adjust our appointments list to reflect these demands.
If you think that you need a doctor to visit you at home please ring the surgery before 11:00am. This enables the doctors to plan their visits and avoid unnecessary delays to you and to other patients. Please note that home visits are intended only for patients who are housebound or too ill to attend surgery.
